Wharton Food Pantries Benefit from 8th Annual Charity Pub Crawl

May, 2010

On May 2nd, 2010, the Wharton Republican Club donated the proceeds from the recent 8th Annual Wharton Charity Pub Crawl to the two Food Pantries located in Wharton Borough. The event was held on Saturday, March 27th, and was a huge success. Hundreds of participants purchased T-Shirts to support the charity event, and moved throughout the town to each pub during the course of the evening. Participating pubs/restaurants included Mangia Restaurant, West Central Pub, Hot Rods BBQ, Scerbo’s Italian Restaurant, Wharton American Legion Post #91, Pepe’s Lounge and the Knotty Pine Pub. On hand to present the contributions were Wharton Mayor Bill Chegwidden, Councilmen Vince Binkoski and Tom Yeager, Committee Chairman Roger Steele and Wharton Republican Club President Sandy Hayes. Representing the church’s Food Pantries were Pastor Robin Curras and George Hemenetz of the Wharton United Community Church and Sister Thomasine of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church. Donations of food or cash are always appreciated to support the Food Pantries!
